Miss BMS 2023-2024, Nala Rain Nelson traveled to Cherokee, North Carolina to attended the National Tribal Forum on Air Quality Conference on May 6-7, 2024. She conducted a scientific study with the help of NAU staff about indoor air quality pertaining to radon. Her presentation was focus on radon testing during the conference.
She was the only student that presented to the group of scientists from across the nation and shared her culture by singing songs in Navajo to the other scientists. She was also able to sing with singer/songwriter Charly Lowery. Overall, Nala did a wonderful job representing Kayenta, Baker Middle School, and her Dine people at this national science conference.
